Sponsoring a child is one of the best ways to be involved in directly changing the life of one child.
Friends Vision sponsorship program gives underprivileged children the opportunity that every child deserves in life - the opportunity to gain a quality education and a chance at life where they can dream, hope and work towards a better future. We truly believe that education is the key to creating a brighter tomorrow.
Friends Vision Sponsorship Program
Friends Vision sponsorship program sends underprivileged children to schools and training centers for a chance in life that they would not have received without our help. We work closely with rescue and rehabilitation centers in Kenya that act as a temporary home for children (up to the age of 18) who have experienced traumatic events including abuse, extreme neglect, poverty, health related conditions or the loss of family members. With inadequate funding and resources the centers provide basic food, shelter and limited schooling by volunteer staff. A majority of the children in our program derive from these centers so we are mindful to choose schools that can support and care for all our children’s physical and emotional needs as well as gaining a quality education.
Our sponsorship program also supports children after who have completed secondary school or who are transitioning out of rescue centers and into the wider community. Graduates and young adults require additional support and life-skill training before they are fully independent as they have no adults to care for them. Friends Vision helps with tertiary studies, vocational training, apprenticeships and/or support to find them work. Our job is only done when our children and young people have had every opportunity to pursue an independent and fulfilling life, whatever course that takes.
If you decide to join our sponsorship program, you will receive updates of your child or young person’s school grades, progress and general wellbeing, plus a yearly photo and letter from your child or young person. As a sponsor you also have the opportunity to correspond, send gifts, talk via Skype or even visit with your child or young person. We encourage our sponsors to be as involved as they would like to be children and young people naturally hold their sponsors in very high regard.
AU $25, $50, $100 or $200 per month is all it takes to help make a difference in a child or young person’s life – see below for what this covers. We have designed a flexible, affordable program that allows people to co-sponsor with others to complete the full sponsorship of $200 per month for the complete upkeep of your child’s needs. You are free to choose one of our four payment options that best suits your budget to join our program and become a sponsor.

December 2018 Update
We have had another big year here at Friends Vision and although we’ve had some setbacks, we’ve also had many reasons to celebrate. In particular, we are always inspired by the many achievements of the children and young people we support. With increasing costs and floods wiping out most of our crops, we also need to continue to fundraise so read on to see what we have planned.
March 2018 Update
It continues to be an interesting, challenging, rewarding and evolving journey for us as we move into our eighth year. While it’s been around two years since my last update (so sorry), the wheels have still been turning over as we venture into new territory this year. Our focus on sustainability is in full force with some exciting new partnerships; we have gained tax deductibility status in Australia; welcomed new staff members and new children and had the first of our young adults finishing High School and beginning our transition program.
2015 News Update
All in all it has been a busy, exciting and challenging year for us at Friends Vision as we slowly move through some changes that have taken place within our organisation. Throughout the year we have welcomed new staff, gained our Kenyan NGO status, began our farming project and started to move towards a more sustainable future.
